Commemoration services to be held at The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library

BOSTON (Sept. 11, 2021) — On the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11th,
2001, the Massachusetts 9/11 Fund will host the state’s official Annual Commemoration to pay
tribute to the victims of 9/11, particularly those with ties to Massachusetts, who lost their lives
on that tragic day 20 years ago.

The annual commemoration services begin at 8:30am at the John F. Kennedy Presidential
Library Harborside Plaza. The ceremonies will start with the lowering of the flag, moment of
silence, and reading of the names of the 206 victims of 9/11 who were Massachusetts residents
or had ties to Massachusetts. Governor Charles Baker will be presiding and additional name
readers include Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, Attorney General Maura Healey, Mayor Kim Janey and
select Massachusetts 9/11 family members. The event is a private and with invitation only.

The commemoration observance will commence in the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library’s
Smith Hall immediately following at 9:25am, presided over by Governor Baker and Lieutenant
Governor Karyn Polito. This service includes a touching family montage, a presentation of the
2021 Madeline Amy Sweeney Award for Civilian Bravery and a keynote speech from former
Massachusetts Governor Jane Swift.

Interview Requests
Immediately following the ceremonies, some family members will be available to speak with
members of the press. The Massachusetts 9/11 Fund respectively requests that all media gets
interview approvals granted by a member of the Massachusetts 9/11 Fund staff as to not
disturb families who do not want to participate.

Pool Camera
For video coverage of the ceremonies, a pool camera will be offered by the onsite A/V team.
